- The place is big and very nice. The room was spotless and quiet. The staff were very polite, and the service was very good. Everything easy to find and within distance
Negative reviews
- Could do with a couple of comfy chairs in bed room
- The bed was a bit too hard for my liking.
- Would like more options for vegetarians please
- The food I had in the restaurant especially the main meal wasn't nice. I had a steak and potato pie which was more potato than steak and the steak there was, was burnt. The greens were very chewy and ended up making me sick. I had to go to the bar for a plunger for sink as i was unwell but the staff weren't interested in how i was, just gave me the plunger.
- The rooms were very cold when you came back after a day out and it took a long time for them to warm up.

- Good breakfast
- Great views and great service
- Great location right on the beach. Children loved being able to go and play quite freely so close to our hut. The huts are beautiful, clean and full of amenities. I loved the gesture of the Sloe gin and bottle of wine in the fridge, with drinks for the kids too – they were so excited! Staff really friendly and the hotel food and coffee/food bar on the sea front was exceptional. What a glorious place to stay and relax. We stayed 2 nights but it felt like a week. Kids enjoyed the snooker table in the hotel and swimming pool, in which you book a private swimming slot which is a great idea.
- Stylish and well designed in terms of facilities
- Amazing place, so clean, tidy and comfortable. In the most amazing position right on the sea front and the bonus of having the pool to yourself for 30 minutes a day if you book at reception. Staff were all helpful and friendly.
Negative reviews
- The new furniture makes the room feel a bit smaller than before.
- Location
- Cobwebs all over the outside space with small spiders it should have been cleaned. I did report this to reception on check out.
- Internet not working until asked for help.
- Bunk beds a bit small for adults. Breakfast could have been better.

- Good sized room, immaculately clean. Friendly staff and well-made food.
- Lovely dinner. Tasty breakfast. Great walk from the doorstep. Dog friendly
- Spotlessly clean, luxurious beyond its price point, best quality and tastiest plant based breakfast I’ve ever had and I am fussy! Lovely Bramley toiletries. The most comfortable bed in a spacious room. My new favourite retreat 💗
- What an absolute gem! I will seek out other venues of this group and plot our trips accordingly. The entire place is beautifully decorated and the staff were incredibly friendly. The food was also exceptional and our dog was welcome throughout the venue. We will be back!
- Beautiful place, room was stunning and so clean. We had a dinner reservation and the food and drink was amazing. Staff very polite and professional. Well done would definitely recommend
Negative reviews
- The early morning traffic going past the hotel.
- It was disappointing that the menus (breakfast and supper) were shortened by a lack of some ingredients "due to the time of year".
- Restaurant was a little disappointing. Very limited vegetarian options. We ordered both but they were flavourless and underwhelming. Veggie breakfast also not great. Items missing and alternatives only offered when the plate was brought to the table. Shame because its a lovely setting. Staff are friendly and attentive
- Marked down slightly as the hot water in the tap and shower took ages to come through. It was fine when it did though.
- Shower is in the bath but it’s fine

- Lovely spa and a great room. Was given a free upgrade. Room had an open fire which was epic. Nice walk to the beach too.
- The service was exceptional. Friendly and experienced staff at dinner and reception. Enjoyed the dinner and breakfast menu. The spa was lovely and my treatment very relaxing. There was lots of help and facilities for our 9 month old baby, e.g. cot and highchair. Close to the coast and scenic walks, and a lively local pub.
- good breakfast, good choices for dinner, v pleasant spa
- Everything worked. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The food was delicious and staff really helpful. The pool was a good temperature and the facilities at the pool really good and relaxing. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay
- Beautiful place Lovely staff Stunning room with real fire – def worth upgrading Nice that after checkout you can stay at the spa until 2pm We then walked along the beach Also it was decorated so nicely for Christmas
Negative reviews
- Only one thing, which I should have avoided: walking from our room to the spa in dressing gown in Jan was bracing!
- Unfortunately we had terrible rain and the buildings are all a short walk outside but the hotel supplied plenty of umbrellas.
- It was a bit of a long walk for my mother in the dark to and from the main hotel as she is disabled.
- In the spa people take beds and don't use them. People sat drinking in the hot tub for more than three hours prohibiting other people from using it. But I understand they were having a good time. Maybe a bit more control on numbers and how long people stay in there?
- We were given a damp smelling room and we reported this to the person who showed us the room said to turn on the radiator? When we looked there was mould in the shower , mould up the windows and an extremely heavy smell of damp. This made it impossible to sleep as we had to sleep? With windows open because of the smell of damp. My partner used the pool once and could not see his hand as the water was so cloudy. This was an extremely poor experience and are struggling to understand the cost of such a shoddy room . We informed the night manager on two occasions who said he could look to relocate us 10 miles down the road in another hotel but they may not have a room . We are offered without question a free voucher to stay here again which makes me believe this is a normal occurrence. We both work really hard and wanted a get Away weekend of which we did not get. I cancelled my spa treatment due to a chest cough ,( damp) and no sleep

- The staff were very young and rushed in and out of the dining area. It took a while to get served or catch an eye.
- The wifi was a bit slow, and the phone signal was a bit patchy.
- Need an air conditioning as room was so warm in a hot weather condition.
- Breakfast was disappointing, full English breakfast was cooked the night before with overcooked susages and mushrooms out of a tin.

- Clean and beautifully decorated. The staff are lovely, especially Holly who checked me in and the gentleman on breakfast in Camelia (didn’t catch his name).
- The Pass Restaurant was world class and Ben and his team made us feel very special. The spa was delightful and indulgent. The grounds are wonderful and the room, on the first floor in the original house section, was lovely. Virtually flawless
- Everything… from the minute we arrived we were treated like very special guests. The lodge was beautiful – the views sublime; the spa and facilities were beyond our expectation (though a little busy at times). The icing on the cake was the amazing tasting menu from Chef Ben and his team. Exceptional dining experience. The breakfast hamper is highly recommended as you can slouch in the comfy robes on the balcony overlooking the lake and watch the wild swimming tucking into the gorgeous local produce. Will definitely be back.
- I enjoyed the infinity pool very much – it is huge. I also thought the heated pool outside and the the natural pool were lovely. Staff very friendly and professional – I hope to return at some point.
- Beautiful building, stunning bedroom/bathroom, amazing staff and delicious food.
Negative reviews
- I would have liked the log fires in the communal areas to be lit, its”s Winter, i wanted to play a board game in a cosy environment.
- Bathroom did smell a bit 'drainy' but that's about it
- Bathrooms need to be upgraded very 70s design. I stayed in a room with a huge bathroom but wasn’t well designed. No hooks for towels next to the shower.
- Food of a good standard but didn’t like the walk across to the Botanical.
- Some of the staff were not as customer centred as they have been previous visits. Not rude but definite improvements could be made. We had a misunderstanding on our original booking which we had to cancel and rebook and I found the girl I dealt with on the phone to be obtuse and not motivated to try to secure for us the best deal for our party of 4. Also in the Camilla restaurant we were presented with a set menu £90 for 3 courses. No one in our group would be able for 3 courses, so we had to ask the price for 1 or 2 courses. In the end 2 of us had 2 courses at £75 pp and 2 of us had just one course at £50 pp. £50 for one course (very small portion sizes so thank goodness for the delicious complimentary bread) is extortionate and we felt taken advantage of on what was already a very expensive break. £2,400 for 4 people which included 2 rooms, 4 treatments, lunch on day of arrival, dinner in Camilla, after dinner drink in the bar and coffee before we left.

- Used this hotel many times very convenient for Gatwick airport comfortable beds and good from the bar and restaurant. Highly recommend
- Friendly staff, nice breakfast, comfortable bed.
- Great location for Gatwick, staff incredibly friendly and welcoming. Comfy beds and had a great nights sleep.
- Staff were really helpful and very friendly and kind. Best nights sleep in a hotel ever. Very quiet. Breakfast was yummy.
- Lovely place. Big room available
Negative reviews
- Lack of refrigerator in the room. The heating was centrally controlled and the air condition was turned off during the night. The hotel offered paid taxi transportation to the airport at the price of £20,50, as shown in the room's TV info panel, but when I requested this service, the reception mentioned that it costs £22,50. Eventually the driver asked for £23,50.
- Paying for parking, please just include in the room price!
- Heating system was slow and slightly noise, it took a few hours to get the room to a reasonable temp. The £15 parking was on the expensive side but you need to take that into account when booking. No mini fridge.
- The building next to the hotel was in disrepair and didn't look good on arrival.
- The location is quite isolated.

- Two flights of stairs to room but it was clear when we booked that there were no lifts. There was a quiet coach party visiting too. The organiser ran a bingo session during our celebratory birthday meal. He was Very Loud! The waiters were embarrassed for the rest of us.
- The heating was not on in the rooms only the towel rail was working.a bit cold for staying in January
- There was a private party that we were not made aware of. If we had we would not have made the booking. It was very noisy and our children did not get to sleep till nearly midnight. The hotel staff were nice and apologetic but we should have been made aware as it did massively effect the whole families sleep

- Fabulous room, really comfortable bed, spacious bathroom and incredibly peaceful location.
- Outstanding service from staff. Excellent breakfast. Dinner was also very good but a little pricey.
Negative reviews
- Breakfast was £21.50 I arrived at 9.57am and they accommodated me but I had whatever was left from the continental breakfast (which was basically nothing) and the Full English arrived without the sausage but a few slices of bacon extra instead. For the price, it felt like a mugging.
- Outside access between rooms and main dining room and bar. Not good in rain and cold.
- Some rooms were much smaller than others and felt a little too cosy in comparison but suitable for an overnight stay.
- No chair in the bedroom.
- I asked for a gluten free option at breakfast, and although I was given a full English I couldn't have any sausage or hash browns (both of which can be done gf). Only got some very under done toast, and had to send my breakfast back on Saturday as it was luke warm.
