- – lovely to have dinner included.
- Diner included and good breakfast
- Very comfortable. Friendly staff. Excellent location excellent breakfast
- Very fun, historic hotel. Nicely renovated in lobby and restaurant. Small gym but has everything you need. Very hot sauna was a bonus (didn't try hot tub)! Central location across the street from the train station in Karlstad. Nice breakfast. Great gelato place a few doors down.
- Great location, excellent breakfast and dinner and a jacuzzi and sauna to chill in. Staff are all really friendly!
Negative reviews
- Dinner included was so-so
- Bedrooms comfortable but could use sprucing.
- Our room had a low bulkhead ceiling presumably to allow plumbing or heating works, but it meant the room didn’t feel spacious as depicted in the photos. The food on offer with the included dinners was very basic. A vegetable soup, bread, some salad and a hot dish. The hot dish was a sausage stroganoff and rice one night and the next night was mince patty with gravy and roast potatoes.
- The lack of a wardrobe. It's just a really small place for hangers. Dinner is included, but half of the dinner buffet was the same every evening.
- We had a very unpleasant experience at this hotel due to a serious booking/payment issue. There was a technical problem between the hotel and Booking.com — the hotel claimed they couldn’t process the payment, even though the money had already been charged. We had to spend a lot of time calling Booking.com to confirm the payment, and even after Booking confirmed everything was fine, the hotel still refused to check us in at first. They tried to shift the responsibility onto us, which was completely unfair since the payment was made. This situation wasted a lot of our time and ruined the start of our stay.

- Location – staff – FOOD – everything
- Location and surroundings of the hotel are very pleasant, the view down to the lake wonderful. Not to be missed is the evening meal: imaginative cuisine with home-grown produce, beautifully presented. Breakfast is equally excellent, with interesting local choices.
- *Good and comfortable beds *The location is perfect, even if it's close to the road it's not disturbing. *Nice restaurant *Rooms perfect for the occasion
- The staff are very friendly and helpful.
- Charmigt boende, god middag och frukost. Rolig spa-del och bastu vid sjön.
Negative reviews
- Accommodation in the standard rooms is relatively simple, perhaps not fully reflective of the pictures shown on the site and rather expensive compared to most other properties we stayed at during our Sweden tour.
- *Mirror in the room next to the bathroom was not entirely attached and could be dangerous, especially with small kids moving around

- The hotel style was very nice and facilities were good. The breakfast satisfying. The staff very kind and prepared
- Beautiful!
- Amazing location and beautiful room with balcony overlooking the’garden’
- We had a room in new part facing river. I enjoyed our short stay in this hotel. The room was nice and staff was very friendly and available. Nice breakfast in a bit crowdy atmosphere, but still nice.
- We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The location is fantastic! You can take a nice walk along the river just in the heart of the downtown. Our room welcomed us with a homelike feeling of comfort. The breakfast was delicious.
Negative reviews
- We went there to relax booking one of the best hotel in town but it was not relaxing at all because of the bed that was very uncomfortable. I expected a lot more. The room looked also smaller than what expected because of the arrangement of the forniture.
- Very noisy in the dining hall Festsalen where we had dinner.
- It’s a bit pricey
- To get to the room in new part the way you need to make is a bit challenging. Some ventilation nose in the room during day (not at night time). The cleaning of WC was not acceptable, not expected thing in the hotel of this level.
- We didn't like the way we were treated when we were checking out of the hotel. We felt a little humiliated by the girl at the reception in front of other people.

- Except parking everything was good with our stay. Due to construction in that street parking was not available you have to park the car with your own.
- The hotel itself and service were tremendous! We had a blast as a family of 5 with 3 kids. The evening buffet was simple but very good. Breakfast buffet was also good and had many choices to choose from. We'll be back!
- Clean rooms with good bathroom, nice bed, reasonable prices, sauna and whirlpool available, good breakfast, location smack in the middle of town right next to the train station. And nice staff. Recommended.
- We usually use this hotel as a stopover to avoid driving for too many hours and it is always great. This time we were late and would have missed dinner, but Alice, the receptionist, called us, saved us some food and took care of us when we arrived late and tired. Location is nice, the beds are comfortable and breakfast is great. The staff is the best and the reason why we keep coming back every year.
- The friendliness of the reception staff was lovely The food was great value and lovely quality for adults.
Negative reviews
- Parking
- Not possible to control room temperature and beds far to soft
- I did not find a hairdryer in the room
- Had to pay for parking. When visited in Sept 2025, there was a lot of construction nearby which made the dog nervous.
- room without window…

- Central location. Friendly staff.
- It is cozy and clean. Very suitable for business travel. I found out last day that they had Sauna and Jacuzzi, too bad no one informed me to use it. The food was nice and everyone was very friendly.
- Rooms were extremely clean! Breakfast was great!
- The bed were confortable, the room was clean and the staff was kind. The breakfast was amazing. I do recommend the use of the parking garage as well because it is realy expensive and difficult parking on the streets.
- Very central. Great to have gym and little pool
Negative reviews
- Noisy at night (boy racers). Inadequate pillows.
- Got the room facing the road and lot of noises
- Only thing missing is a boiler in the room, or some coffee machine.
- The walls are not soundproof so a lot of noise can be heard from neighboring rooms. The room has only a few facilities, no mini fridge or kettle.
- I am writing to express my sincere disappointment with the breakfast experience during our recent stay at the hotel. Prior to our arrival, we specifically asked about the availability of vegan breakfast and received confirmation that it would be provided. However, once on site, it became clear that no substantial vegan options were prepared. We were told that the only available items were bread, tomatoes and yogurt, and were even advised to consider eating breakfast elsewhere – despite having paid in advance for breakfast as part of our stay. Hearing this, while looking at our small children whom we hoped to offer a warm and nutritious start to the day, was emotionally difficult. My heart sank, and tears came to my eyes. Later, the head chef did kindly offer to prepare something and brought us a hummus, but it was so sour and salty that it was inedible. Compared to the rich and varied selection available to other guests, it felt like vegan guests were not expected or considered. Having to ask and explain during breakfast made us feel excluded at a moment that should have been welcoming and equal. I’m sharing this not just for ourselves, but for all future guests who follow a plant-based lifestyle and deserve a comparable level of comfort. It would mean a great deal if the hotel considered offering some basic warm vegan options – for example, fried potatoes, steamed or sautéed vegetables, and perhaps tofu as a protein alternative. These are simple and affordable items that many guests – vegan or not – enjoy, including both children and the elderly.

Negative reviews
- Nothing
- Dinner is somewhat limited with little choice
- The room smelled of cigarettes but this improved after airing out with the windows open for several hours.
- We staid 2 days, they did not clean up our room also they did not change our towel.
- Vastly overpriced. So expensive £120 for one night in a dark depressing room.& hotel Dinner was the incentive to book. But go elsewhere as it was inedible. Fish and vegetables (potatoes from a tin) had been cooked hours and hours before and could not be eaten. I do not understand why the Manager is so complacent as this is the 3rd hotel i in the group all terrible. Leaves bad memories of Sweden

- Sauna, parking space in the middle of the town. Location is perfect. I got used there to the Swedish breakfast procedure, works well if you announce yourself.
- Bed was very good. Bathroom was new and clean. Breakfast was good.
- Clean. Spacious. Friendly staff. Easy going Indian restaurant walking distance from hotel. Good selection for breakfast. 3 alternative choices for parking. The room had a veranda which was nice.
- Amenities and staffs are so nice 🥰 food are so good too😍
- Nice large rooms. Convenient location on edge of town. Good breakfast.
Negative reviews
- The terrible sound the automatic front door makes. Maybe it was the cold?
- Superior room was relatively small and no couch like in the picture. No view. Wellness area was closed on Sundays.
- Pool was closed all sunday and didnt open until 1500 3hours after checkout on monday. So could just as well have booked accomodation without a pool. This may well have been our fault for not reading that sundays the pool was closed for cleaning. Restaurant was closed sunday. Breakfast: Scrambled eggs made from powder eggs. Fruit looked like it could have had gladpack over it from day before. Car charging required bring own cable, so ended up fastcharging elsewhere.
- The cost! More expensive than Stockholm! It was a noisy shoe box. Everything was crammed into a tiny space. Coffee making was 4 coffee sachets & 2 herbal tea bags. No black tea. We bought yoghurt for our early breakfast but there wasn’t even a fridge to put it in. If you are a ‘big’ person you wouldn’t get into the shower as the opening was too snug. Breakfast included, pool etc. we’re in a different building on a different street. Booking.com was cheaper than walk in rates.
- We have lost our luggage at your storage. We asked for storage and you guys looked it in for us. Now when we got home, my gifts and medicine is gone. This is not okay! Our room was so ridiculously dirty , the shower was really dirty, the cleaning staff did a really dirty job. We stayed from 18 – 21 July. We left over 5000kr nok, and this is what we got! So disappointed!! My gift from husband and our medicines is gone, only our packages is here, but empty! Stolen from our luggage. I actually feel that we should get our money back, and replacement for our gifts and policies should be talked to about Medecine. We also payed 1000kr for something that the staff sets on our room, I can’t believe that some sodas cost 1000kr nok!! We got blamed yesterday for our wc was full, staff came in the end, but we needed to call many times before they come. Staff didn’t clean our room either. I’m so shocked and sad that we chosen your place to celebrate our anniversary ! We Don’t Recommend Scandic Arvika!

- Supergood breakfast
- The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel's location is very good. The restaurant overlooks a small, beautiful lake.
- A nice hotel in a very nice surrounding, near the river. The restaurant was nice and not overcrowded during the breakfast rush. The variety at breakfast was pretty nice too.
- Location, helpful staff, clean, good restaurant Mention to x2 staff members Hedda Braunethielm ( 20.6.25) who when I asked could I leave our luggage somewhere (we arrived early and had invite from nearby friends to celebrate midsummer) told us we could check in early, then upgraded us to Riverside view with teamaking facilities even I asked for a kettle for original room allocated! We strongly recommending this hotel/chain. And Maya Habbar who was very friendly and helpful 21.6.25
- Breakfast was wonderful. Beautiful scenery outside the hotel. A walk by the river and you will reach the centre easily.
Negative reviews
- The rooms were small and incredibly hot during the warm summer days.
- Restaurant had poor menu at weekends but that was not apparent until you sat down and were presented with a different menu to the one on the large board at the entrance. 2 simple pizzas and a fairly mediocre hotel buffet and a hamburger. This and the hotel was fully booked! Kids were running up and down the corridors and playing ball there until after 10pm. This is no fault of the hotel but a sign to say at least that the corridors should be respectfully quiet after 9pm might have helped.
- Opening times for the gym and the pool were limited and not available before noon.
- I walk for a mile to get to my room in the end of the hotel
- Pool was crowded by 5 unattended noisy and wild children. (I am a mother myself, so there is no need to put me in the children’s hater corner)

Home Hotel Plaza sits steps from Karlstad Central Station and is adjacent to the P-hus Duvan multi-storey car park, which includes 48 EV charging spaces accessible via the parking operator’s FLOW app and is open 24/7. Scandic Arvika is the best option in Arvika for EV drivers, as it provides eight on-site electric vehicle charging points and roughly 50 paid parking spaces. If you prefer a smaller central hotel, Home Hotel Bristol also lists three on-site chargers with round-the-clock access arranged via reception.
Ulvsby Herrgård offers a classic lakeside manor setting by Lake Fryken and several travel listings indicate an electric-vehicle charging point at the property. Because the hotel’s own website does not detail charging, it’s advisable to confirm the charger type and access directly with the hotel before booking.
