Positive reviews

  • Absolutely everything. The accommodation was brilliant. The staff are very friendly and welcoming.the location was perfect for our road trip. Would definitely recommend. Thnak you for a lovely stay.
  • Beautiful hotel in a nice setting. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Spacious room. Nice cuisine and a good breakfast. Parking in front of hotel on the compound itself.
  • Really nice staff, good breakfast. excellent evening meal and good room. Plenty of parking.
  • The breakfast was amazing – would stay there just for that
  • Super nice hotel. Big fancy room with a balcony. The food in the restaurant was really nice: we had pizza and it was gigantic, split into two and it was still too much – but soooo good! Breakfast had everything we wanted, and it all tasted good.

Negative reviews

  • It may be better to ask for a room on the 2nd floor (top floor) as one hears every step the upstairs neighbors set when lodged on the first floor.
  • Breakfast only till 9.30am. That is way too early. Unacceptable
  • Was the smallest bed i have ever seen in my life but very comfy
  • The cabin room is not clean. There are dust, dead bodies of insects, and live insects too.
  • The single bed in my single room was less than 90cm (75/80cm?)wide. The parking spaces were not marked, which allowed for feier spaces.

Positive reviews

  • Location of the property to the airport and the centre
  • We really likes how friendly and professional the staff were, along with a 5 star breakfast and beautiful views from the "16th" floor.
  • The hotel is very nice and exceptionally clean. The suite is comfortable, well-appointed, and offers a beautiful view. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay.
  • Wonderful accommodation, suitable for our one night. Great facilities. Next to the Port and magnificent Fish Market. A short walk into the town center to go to a restaurant.
  • Wide variety of dishes to offer.

Negative reviews

  • Nothing
  • We feel that although this hotel is beautiful and deserves many awards and stars, it definitely isn't a 4 star, as a 4 star would at least have a sauna, or pool, or room service or larger gym, so presumably the owner of the hotel, like most hotels in Norway is on the board that gives the stars to these hotels so obviously is prejudice over other hotel's. But lovely place all the same
  • Parking is in 2 options: Public parking in front of hotel, quite expensive (250 NOK for 24hrs), or public paking in a garage in the building which costs approx 290 NOK. On Friday evening it was hard to find a spot on both of them.
  • No chicken to eat in breakfast
  • The room cleaning was a challenge. I had two drinks in my room the evening before and also spilled a drink on my pillow only to return the following evening after morning cleaning to see they had “cleaned” the room but my empty ginger beer bottles were still in the room, garbage not emptied. They had made the bed and fluffed back the dirty pillow. To say I was pissed was an understatement. It was too late and I was too tired to even head to reception to complain. This issue did make my start questioning the cleanliness of the entire hotel.

  • Desk in the room a bit on small side to work on.
  • No hotel parking facility
  • No glasses or bottles of water. Kettle/coffee making facilitéis would be good and even a fridge
  • The rooms were quite warm since there was a heat wave: no air conditioning and no fans to relieve us from the heat. For the price, the hotel was a disappointment.

Positive reviews

  • All was as promised.
  • Everything was perfect
  • The location is wonderful. We booked the suite. Great view and big and spacious room. The staff were very kind, and especially Lena from reception 🙂 Very nice with access to free bikes, free entry to wellness and water park. Food was okay, also many options in Lyngdal.
  • The breakfast was exceptional. Free access to the nearby bath with hotwater bassin, sauna and steambath. Friendly and competent check-in. Delicious fish for supper and served on the terrace overlooking the beach and sea.
  • Loved the view! I was glad I reserved a room with a balcony. It was great to be able to go to the fitness center next door. Most of the staff were nice. Easy to find, easy to park. Quiet. Comfortable bed, very good wifi. I enjoyed exploring the area with the short time I had and enjoyed a quick swim.

Negative reviews

  • The restaurant menu is quite simple, not a lot of options. And also there were very few power outlets in the room, but otherwise not much negative to say. We will definitely come visit again as soon as we can
  • Could be more choice of food and waiter service
  • No air conditioning system, so you need to sleep with the varanda door open wich gets a bit noisy in the morning
  • The hotel is a bit dated. I hope the woman at reception on the 15th was just having a bad day, if this is her every day attitude, hospitality may not be her calling.
  • The toiletries in the bathroom are very basic and could be of better quality

  • Loved the location for doing the Kjeragbolten hike, and such a beautiful, peaceful location! The rooms had everything we needed for a few nights, and our kids loved the play tractors outside.

Negative reviews

  • We missed a bit a coffee machine
  • Check in at 1600 and reception closes at 1600.

  • Hotel location with fjord view was very nice. Free included parking was great. Short walking distance to shops/grocery store/restaurants etc. Great breakfast included in room rate.

  • Location was great and food in restaurant was delicious. Parking on site easy to access. Staff friendly
  • Hotel situated in the centre of the city. Free car park in front of the hotel. Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast.

Negative reviews

  • My room was clean and with normal bed and bathroom. However the room (to the land-side) was more like what you could expect from an old spanish hostal : no coziness, carpets but a true plastic floor. Not what I expected to this prize
  • No multimedia options on room TV,in general need more plugs in the room
  • Pillows not very comfortable. Breakfast is good. But a few dishes didn’t get refilled when we were there at 10.
  • Room is very basic with limited amenities, no tea or coffee maker in the room. Breakfast food in small quantities often run out of food and had to wait for new supply. Overall breakfast service is not efficient.
  • Minibar defekt. Konnten zwar im Hotel etwas lagern, aber für ein kühlendes Getränk zwischendurch hätten wir uns einen funktionierenden Kühlschrank im Zimmer gewünscht

  • Kind and welcoming staff. Comfortable bed. Nice breakfast and free parking. Location is perfect.
  • Good value hotel near Grimstad centre, beds comfy, nice breakfast, plenty parking and extremely helpful staff (our crossing to Denmark was cancelled and we needed to stay an extra night and they did everything to make this possible – thank you!
  • Very friendy staff, easy to come to the place, good parking faciities
  • Great staff, super clean, coffee and snacks in the lobby and very nice breakfast, lots of parking and only a few minutes walk to downtown
  • Staff was fantastic, breakfast had a small selection – but it was super good. I loved it.

Negative reviews

  • One light bulb was not put in. No shelves to put the clothes into.
  • The rooms smelled awful and the sink drain was leaking.
  • Could hear everything from the corridor due to poor insulation, ALOT of dust on fan and bathroom fan (rest of the room was clean)
  • I do not fully understand the one-and-a-half bunk-bed arrangement that is quite common in Norway; the lower bed is too small for two people, and the upper bed can only be accessed by waking up the people sleeping below. The bed itself had seen better days, with notable sags in the mattress. I would likely rate this property higher if my room had been furnished with a modern king-sized bed. The location, just off the road, is rather uninspiring, though I am sure one would be happy enough to explore the nearby town.
  • Two men were smoking in the hallway outside our room. There was a smell everywhere, possibly from smokers or due to being an older place. Couch could use a steam cleaning. Staff were quite unfriendly.

Positive reviews

  • Location was just next to a beautiful lake. Staff was really good and helpful. Lobby area is designed well makes you feel comfortable and warm. Breakfast was good.
  • Receptionist Anna was so friendly, helpful. Perfect English, service was the best I had in Norway. Sunday buffet was great and they gave me a table for one with a view. Breakfast was strong too….. Garden area and jetty provided amazing access to the Fjord. User friendly so I went for a swim!
  • Beautiful location, good view from the room on the fjord and garden. The room can be hot due to the sun (luxury problem in Norway 😉 very good dinner
  • Great Location, Great staff and delecious food.
  • Great views, tiny sandy beach for cold swims, classic style and decorations, helpful staff

Negative reviews

  • Rooms are need to be renewed. Beds are not comfortable.
  • Old and sorely in need of maintenance and updates, uncomfortable bed, flickering lights, wallpaper peeling, stale but truly classic
  • At breakfast no staff was available, while it was clear that the cereals/muesli were forgotten in the buffet. We came in after 8 am, other guests were already in the restaurant. Only when we almost left two laughing guys came in, one guy opened a cupboard and put down 4 bowls with the cereals. The other one filled a bowl and went into the kitchen.
  • The rooms were a bit outdated, the window handles seemed to be damaged which made them very difficult to handle. At night a bathroom shelf randomly fell off the wall which woke us up.
  • A bit dated, but they are working to update it

  • Amazing location and lovely hotel. The food is absolutely incredible.
  • Close to the Under restaurant which was the point of our visit
  • What a location. What a view from my room. Helpful staff. Clean room and excellent service. Stayed 2 nights and I was lucky with the weather, I must admit.
  • The reception staff were very helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and varied. Public areas nicely presented.
  • The hotel is well located, clean, with great parking with chargers, the rooms were quiet and clean. Great apartments for a family with kids.

Negative reviews

  • The rooms could have been a little nicer for the price. Also, it was near enough impossible to get public transport from the area on Sundays, so getting to the airport cost a fortune in a taxi. A heads up about this on the site would have been helpful.
  • Parking slots for evs are often occupied by non-ev vehicles.
  • The room was very basic. Net curtains are needed at the windows to afford a degree of privacy.
  • Too hot in the room and there was no hair conditioner in shower.
  • Our room was very tiny and the bed as well – no box spring.
