- Excellent food and dining experiences (romantic dinner overlooking the lake; breakfasts highly praised).
- Hot tubs/jacuzzis, cozy fireplaces and high comfort (luxurious beds and linens).
Negative reviews
- Food: some guests noted frozen rather than fresh items and wished for a restaurant on site.
- Bed in suite 12 very firm; side near the bathroom lacked a pillow top and metal supports could be felt.
- Steep walk back up the road after long days of hiking.
- Cleanliness issues mentioned (mattress side stains; spider webs and some dust).
- Breakfast package concerns (insufficient items reported, e.g. very limited yoghurt supply).

- Supper, the chef was excellent and the staff were delightfuL
- This is a very special place – it has its own sweet herd of long horn cattle, a sauna, a lovely library space and paintings loaned from the Edinburgh galleries. The staff were super friendly and accommodating.
- It was truly perfect, we were sad to leave and hope to return. The food was superb as was the dining room. All the staff were very friendly and we appreciated all they did for us to make our stay memorable
- Amazing hotel, very beautiful. Every single thing in the cottage was top quality. Staff went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. A special mention to Ignasi. Restaurant top notch. Amazing sauna. We will definitely come back!
- Spectacular hotel – beautifully decorated, immaculate, amazing staff, top-notch restaurant.
Negative reviews
- It would have been nice to have had a small gym or fitness room.
- Dinner has a limited choice and the menu remains the same over the stay (3 days in our case). Food is OK but overpriced I would have liked to have the airplane tour I booked but it was cancelled due to bad weather and was not possible to find another slot (this is of course out of the control of the structure)
- I was hoping for a bath but I had a standard room. On the pricey side but you kind of have to pay a lot these days to get a high standard.
- We mentioned in advance that we were celebrating a big occasion—my husband’s birthday and our 25th anniversary—but there was no mention of it at all. It wasn’t a deal-breaker, but at this price point, we expected a little something extra to make the moment feel more special.
- If they served hot breakfast would be fantastic.

- Ness Walk is in a great location, it’s immaculately presented, modern and stylish and the staff are very welcoming and attentive.
- The customers service was brilliant. Every member of staff we met were cheerful and helpful. The staff were very knowledgeable and couldn’t do enough for us. The hotel is in a great location with everything looking new and spotlessly clean.
- The breakfast was excellent, the Hotel is lovely and the room was great too. Stand out with this Hotel was their staff, excellent. Well done.
- The service was excellent. Mostly friendly staff. Room was clean and comfy. Beautiful views .
- Everything was just perfect, the location, rooms, staff, and food. Highly recommend.
Negative reviews
- The only little niggle was having to pay £20 per day for parking.
- Chargeable parking.
- Having to pay for overnight parking.
- Breakfast was hit and miss
- Frustrating nothing labelled as vegan – on the menus or the breakfast buffet. Staff (Dorin) did their best to accommodate me! On arrival fancied a sandwich at the bar – not served. The main restaurant is 'fine dining' and so are the prices. Fine for one evening (the chef did make an excellent – taste and presentation – kohlrabi dish for me). Breakfast was a good choice, a cold buffet (with cereals, marinated olives, smoked salmon, local cheese, yoghurts, melon, fresh fruit – and served at the table hot fare)

- Ideal location. Restaurant catered for one of the party who is coeliac with no problems at all. Would definitely recommend.
- Great position, clean, friendly, and lovely and quiet at night
- All the food was good, could use more of a variety for supper meals, but what we had was delicious.
- The breakfast buffet was excellent, as was the view of Loch Linnhe from the dining and lounge areas. Room amenities were first rate as well. All the staff we interacted with were very friendly and helpful. A special shout out to Katrina who helped us find the perfect in-town viewing spot for Ben Nevis. We particularly enjoyed being able to have more spontaneous meals on site by dining in the bar/lounge area rather than scheduling a set time in the dining room.
- Staff were brilliant very helpful Space was very clean comfortable and they upgraded our rooms without us asking as they has some cancellations due to storm Amy Loved it
Negative reviews
- This is a small detail but I forgot to mention it before we left — but our tub was slow to drain so when showering we ended up standing in five or six inches of water. Truly, I'm sure this would have been addressed during our stay had we mentioned it.
- The locks on the doors were cheap and didn’t feel great. The double bed was two single beds pushed together and was uncomfortable in the middle.
- Evening meal service was inconsistent. Staff were very pleasant but an apparent lack of a system affected consistency of service
- Only the pillows, a bit hard. However, that is personal choice.
- The evening meal was terrible 0/10 I had fish and chips the chips were hard and under cooked the fish was over cooked and soggy. The Mrs had chicken curry it was tasteless very bland very disappointing after reading good reviews? 🤷

- Lovely friendly staff and very clean and attentive
- Friendly staff, lovely garden cabin, good pool, good breakfast. Dog friendly in our room. Easy parking on site. Everything was great thanks.
- This property is luxurious place to stay.
Negative reviews
- Could do with lighter menu for the evening The rug was looking a bit grubby in the bedroom Couldn’t get TV channels only internet channels and no ITV to be found
- Pillows😞not great.
- No hot water at washhand basin
- The noise from radiators affected our sleep, had to turn them off to sleep which resulted in room and especially bathroom being cold when waking.
- Everything was perfect until I looked at the bathtub. Luckily there was a shower I could use as the bath was covered in hairs – long black ones (unfortunately I don’t have long black hair myself!). This was very disappointing for an establishment which seemed otherwise up to a high standard in all other areas.

- Loved the location with walks on your doorstep. Beautiful view of the ruins of Castle Varrich from our room. Staff were extremely friendly and attentive and meals were amazing.
Negative reviews
- It may have been because it was New years eve but they were not serving lunch and the nearest place to get food was 30 minutes drive away. I think lunch should always be available as its in such an isolated place.
- The pricing
- Thought the menu was a bit dear for what it was.
- The shower wasn’t amazing with quite weak water pressure.
- There isn’t a proper path from the carpark to the back entrance. Will be helpful for those with many luggage bags.

Negative reviews
- Rooms chilly. Shower blocked. They did offer to swap rooms.
- Room service would be nice. Got a twin when I booked a double.
- Rooms were slightly tired
- My only issue was the the shower tile grout was brown and black with mould and toilet was a bit stained the rest of our room was fine
- Only thing we didn’t enjoy on our 2nd night of a 2 night stay was a sleepless night due to what sounded like Shrek snoring all night long next door . On the first night it was silent and relaxing so I don’t think this is a fault of the hotel unless they deliberately housed a hippopotamus with a nasal condition next door 🤔
