- The room was cosy and beautifully decorated. The staff were lovely.
- Everyone working at the House of Agnes was brilliant, incredibly friendly and helpful. It's rare to have such a warm welcome and to stay somewhere where everyone really cares about their guests. Such a treat.
- The location was great, the rooms were lovely and very clean the staff were exceptional
- The cooked breakfast was delicious and thoughtfully prepared, and the service was patient and genuinely welcoming.
- The rooms are exquisite—tastefully decorated, comfortable, and full of character.
Negative reviews
- The fact that the railway was right behind the room was a bit uncomfortable because of the noice and the vibrations.
- This is a really petty, minor complaint ~ I would have liked better coffee in the room. Not keen on Nescafe instant coffee in the paper tubes…
- We booked a superior room , but were given a small room in the attic, with reduced head height , although the bathroom was spacious and well equipped, the bed and pillows were too soft . Breakfast a little disappointing
- Control on underfloor heating in bathroom
- Passage to the car park is extremely narrow.

- Friendly, helpful, professional staff, clean and comfy bedroom. Aquamanda Spa excellent, we had a very good facial & massage. Plentiful choice for breakfast.
- – Quality of food in the restaurant was amazing – Pool + Jacuzzi and the changing rooms were nice, clean, and well maintained
- Everything. The hotel was amazing, Spa was beautiful, so peaceful, relaxing and so clean. The room was very clean, as was the bathroom. Beds were very comfortable too. So quiet, lived the log fires, Dinner was beautiful, so much to choose from on the breakfast , and the staff were so very friendly, nothing was too much trouble, the waiting staff at the tables were exceptional. Thankyou for everything will definitely be returning.
- This place is absolutely wonderful. Amazing attention to detail and we felt very looked after. The older rooms are beautiful. The open fires are gorgeous.
- Always a real treat staying at Hempstead House – such a lovely hotel, amazing staff and delicious breakfast.
Negative reviews
- Spa pool area small with only 3 lounges though lots of chairs. Bedroom too hot, bathroom towel rail wouldn’t turn off.
- Menu was a bit small in the restaurant (dinner), it was ok for a weekend, but it would have been boring if we stayed longer (it was amazing quality though)
- Evening meals very poor Why same menu for both restaurants? Menus very limited Food not of high enough standard
- Room was too small even I have paid for extra large bed, but bet was average double bed, spring poking out into your back. Uncomfortable sleep. No bath tub(it ok, because you have Spa) toilet extraction fan broken and cold winter you have to open window.
- Price of drinks was expensive, other than one male waiter who was brilliant the staff were not overly friendly. Waited at the bar during the day without being acknowledged despite no one else waiting.

- Great location for local walks, amazing pub and motel style accommodation behind. Really a nice, cozy stay. Even a mini Christmas tree in each room. Great for dogs.
- Food is excellent. Very friendly and accommodating staff Rooms are perfect for a nights stay
Negative reviews
- The room was clean, but not very welcoming as it was freezing cold There was a note on windowsill mentioning saving the environment which we understand, but it would have been more welcoming if the room was warm.
- Getting to the property was a bit of a struggle.
- Nothing major just mattress and pillows too hard for me but for partner was fantastic so just personal choice
- I loved everything except .. as someone who is vegan( I know sorry!) the onion bhaji burger was the worst concept I've eaten for a very long time !! 3 onion bhajis in a bun with chips! Maybe a mushroom tarragon and ale pie with mash might suit the overall flavour of the food offering and make us who don't eat meat and fish feel a little less weird! Thanks !
- Shower didn’t work, no AC and was 34degrees ☹️

- Location great for getting to the port
- Assistance from staff
- Staff was very friendly and accommodating as we booked it at last minute being forced to stay overnight in Dover. We actually got upgraded and the room was clean and very comfortable.
- Breakfast is super Good, a vast majority of food, all kinds of fruits 😋 and yummy, a Real English breakfast!!! The best part is the breakfast!!!!! Room is very clean and tidy although a little bit small, not able to put one large luggage. The receptionist man is quite nice and helpful
- Very pleasant hotel just off the access road to Dover port and the town center. Very friendly staff, fine clean room, great bed. A good breakfast buffet with lots of choices. Convenient parking on the lot. Superstores nearby, as well as a nice family pub.
Negative reviews
- Some noise from an area outside the hotel
- Breakfast could be a bit better (eg. There was no porridge as hot alternative to typical english breakfast)
- The heater doesnt work as winter is very cold in the room. I tried to turn it on to highest temperature but it didnt work at all. Hopefully they will fix the problem soon.
- The room was a bit cold when we arrived and had some troubles initially working out the heating system settings. We worked it out then and the reception provided an additional heater, so not a big deal.
- Advertised as 'pet-friendly' but charging £25 per dog and night, which feels overly expensive.

- Breakfast was good – room was a bit dated (shower was disappointing). My room was good.
- Staff were amazing – they went over and above. Rooms are a little dated
- Room was spacious and clean, we travelled with a dog, on arrival in the room there was a bed, feeding station and to take away, a rope toy, treats and extra poop bags. Dinner was good with nice menu selection. Breakfast was good, if vegetarian need to ask staff for alternatives to gull English, but was quickly freshly prepared.
- Megan at reception was a star. She understood my wife had issues with her leg and gave us a ground floor room with easy Access. The breakfast was lovely and the staff so friendly.Thank you

- The room was good but the shower was a step down compared to the rest of the room (specifically shower unit was weak – dated. Bar closed down a bit too early,
- The evening menu was very limited .
- Rooms a little dated
- The steam room was out of order. There are a lot of little sets of steps up and down when moving around the building, which isn't great with a bad back.

- The location was perfect
- I arrived quite late, after they closed up the place. The staff were nice enough to keep in touch with me while I was on my coach and to wait for me to arrive. My keys were handed to me right away when I arrived and I was just asked to come to reception to complete some paper work in the morning. They also answered all questions and attended to my needs quite promptly.
- A good location with spacious comfortable bedrooms. Excellent food in the restaurant
- Nice size room and a short walk to the shops.
- Location is perfect for town centre, Maidstone East station, Maidstone FC stadium. Room is comfortable, renovated a few years ago.
Negative reviews
- The creaky floor sounds… think something should be done about that.
- Very noisy room above me and woke me up at 5.15am, sounded like a herd of elephants above me.
- The shower cubicle had no door or screen so water splashed all over the floor. Not sure it was designed this way but the foot towel got soaked!
- I was bombarded with emails and telephone calls reminding me of upcoming visit and later of the express checkout option. This was totally unnecessary.
- Strong smell of bleach in the room. You have to walk through restaurant full of people when check in and you check in the bar.

- Staff and comfy bed, clean room
- Comfy bed, great shower and friendly, helpful staff.
- Excellent location for my trip, great parking & excellent rooms
Negative reviews
- Internal construction work, whilst well managed, nevertheless impacted on the stay,
- The only thing if I was to be picky were the pillows were a little firm
- We did not like the new TV system We didn't like stirrers for the hot drinks – a spoon would have been nicer Difficult to use the heating system but managed
- The meal came to 2 people and they had finished their meal before the other 2. The mushroom risotto was disgusting and un-edable.
- You’ve stopped supplying moisturizer. The hairdryer was split and the nozel kept falling off. The plastic flooring is always too waxed and slippery. Plastic shouldn’t be cleaned with wax as it can’t be absorbed. Even when I got home the wax was still on my socks making me slip.
