- Lovely comfortable room with copper bath
- Very nicely presented room. Great copper bath.
- Lovely place. Nice location. Well decorated. Nice vibe in the bar and restaurant.
Negative reviews
- Not picking but maybe a touch warm in the room
- Room was a bit small for the price. It is a very old building so we could hear other guests in the room above our room which meant we were woken up in the night.

- Lovely hotel, very clean, great staff and tasty food!
- Great location and superb restaurant. Dog friendly with a nice walk around the lake in the grounds. Staff very attentive.
- We had a very early start the following day so were unable to have breakfast here. We were, however, offered cereal in our room as we had to miss breakfast due to our early start. Staff went out of their way to make us welcome. Dinner was delicious. Location for us was perfect.
- location for us was great Friendly helpful staff Good food
- Great host, Great breakfast: Good choice, quickly served and very nice, choice of evening meal was not too broad (which I think is a good thing) and hit the spot. Comfortable bed, in the bathroom the shower head could do with being higher.
Negative reviews
- Nothing
- All good
- the bar had only bottled beer most of which was on the shelves and not in the fridge
- A proper shower and draft beer would have been nice but wasn't really an issue.
- Floor boards quite creaky.

- Nice location and staff excellent
- Staff very accommodating and friendly. Ancient House lovely and always clean and comfortabled. Our favourite get awayt
- The Victoria is the perfect spot for a Norfolk getaway. We stayed for a night to celebrate my husband’s birthday and it was 10/10 from start to finish: the staff are lovely, the rooms are so comfortable and cozy and the food is always delicious.
- Staff exceptional. Very attentive and helpful. Room was lovely and lots of extra touches to make our stay comfortable.
Negative reviews
- More flexibility on supper times if possible
- No access to Netflix, Prime or TV apps
- I have a pet hate for the individual small pots of jam/marmalade etc
- The WiFi was very poor in our room number 3.
- The booking.com website does not mention how dog friendly the hotel is. I booked a room without knowing it had previously had dogs in it. This was a problem as I am allergic to them, however the staff understood completely and the situation was sorted, quickly and efficiently.

- Unique atmosphere and style; excellent cuisine
Negative reviews
- Cooked breakfast could have been a bit bigger.
- Had a problem with room heating, but this was soon resolved by hotel staff.
- A little outdated.
- Would like more affordable options for dinnet
- Unfortunately for this review we had quite a small room. It was adequate but not special. The bathroom was tiny and the mattress had no side support. The hotel had done their very best with the room but it was tight on space.

- I stayed at The Dabbling Duck while travelling for work, and it was outstanding from start to finish. All the staff were welcoming and genuinely helpful, which made the whole experience feel effortless after a long day. The food was exceptional — you can really sense the pride in the provenance, the butchery, and the home‑smoked elements. It’s impressive to see such high attention to detail delivered in a setting that still feels relaxed and comfortable. The homemade vodka treat in the guestroom was a brilliant touch and added a bit of charm to the stay. A fantastic place for a stopover, and I’ll definitely return.
- EXCELLENT FOOD
- This pub was a great little gem in Norfolk as I travelled up to my cousins wedding in Godwick Hall. The staff, the room, the facilities, the toilets, shower, food, the everything was just perfect!! I even made temporary friends with some of the regulars as I was waiting on a very delayed taxi and when I left we gave each other a hug goodbye lol. Highley highly recommended. I was a little bit apprehensive about the price when I booked in june for a December stay but trust me its worth every penny!!!!!!! Oh and the duck pizza! Oh My God, do not dare go here and NOT try it! Its amazing!
- Cosy and clean with tons of character and charm. Didn’t want to leave.
- We travel a lot and this is easily the best place we have stayed for a very long time, I advised the staff before travelling that it was my wife's birthday and they upgraded our room to a gorgeous room in the adjacent house that had a bath and the biggest bed ever. The pull up shutters ensured privacy for the bath and the also absolute darkness and silence at night and they kept the heat in. The food in the restaurant was amazing with everything tasting better than the last. The staff were all incredible and engaged with us to ensure everything was as we liked it without being pushy. We have already decided we will be and I would recommend this to anyone who wants a base for touring the area.
Negative reviews
- Bed wasn't the most comfortable I've slept in (I know mattress's are uniquely personal but my wife also said it was too soft or too old and needed replacing). The shower was so hot it was too hot to use (not something I thought I'd ever say) something we reported to the management to get looked at. The stairs were very steep, very narrow and had a sharp bend and door at the bottom, okay for the reasonably able but not fun with hands full of luggage or if you'd had one too many at the bar.
- I think I would prefer a table in the restaurant rather than the bar just cause of the lovely ceiling and ambiance
- Maybe a more varied evening menu.
- Although we had an upgrade to a lovely room, found it difficult drying my hair. No plug in bathroom and the only plug for hairdryer didn’t quite reach the only mirror on the outside of the wardrobe. Had there been a mirror near the plug, where we made coffee/tea, it would have been perfect. Hope this makes sense!!
- The stairs up to the rooms are a little tricky – only a tiny think though in a generally great place.

- Being renovated
- We arrived at approximately 4:30 and there were absolutely no parking spaces left, we had to park on the road further down in the village. Only a minor problem but if it had been raining it would have been an issue.
- Could only access one bar for a drink if you are a staying guest at times it was so busy at the main bar took too long to get a drink
- The bed wasn’t the most comfortable mattress very hard but that could just be personal preferences

- Very helpful staff They were very accomodating with my husbands dair intolerance
- I stayed here for a weekend break on the Norfolk coast. The hotel was very convenient and easy to find. The stop for the coast hopper bus was very close which meant it was easy to get to other destinations along the coast. Check in was prompt and dinner was great. The attention paid to each course was amazing, it felt like each dish was prepared and delivered to me directly, with no waiting in between. I ate in the restaurant on one evening, and then went to Eric's pizza restaurant (run by the owners of the hotel). Both meals were great. Breakfast was very good too. THe bed was spacious and comfortable.
- Wonderful location on the beautiful north Norfolk coast. Our room was exceptional and both dinner and breakfast were very high quality with excellent locally sourced ingredients. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We will come back!
- Beautiful setting, cosy open fires and food for for a king
- Location very convenient for what we planned to do.We had an upgrade to a bigger room which was nice and cosy.Breakfast was included and it was really good.Nice and warm, important in January
Negative reviews
- The menu and its prices. It was far too sophisticated with very few simple options at reasonable prices. Ridiculously highbrow for the simple visitor.
- Lack of cheaper food offers for supper.
- the room(12) was above some extraction vents and i could hear its motors 90 percent of the time i was in the room. It was very cold when i arrived and it may have been nice to have put the radiators on prior to my arrival. i did turn up early so may be my fault. I would not want that room again.. It would have been beneficial if the dinner plates had been warmed. I am not a fast eater and my Pork got cold quickly. These items would not stop me from returning.
- Problems withe heating (my room ,my sister’s room and at least one other guest) should have been solved before we arrived. The team eventually got it sorted and gave a generous compensation.
- Service for food and drinks was a little slow . Wasn’t very busy so not really sure why. But amazing food and was lovely when it arrived .

- Very comfortable stay, polite and friendly staff
- Location is amazing with sea view and beach close by.The room was a good size with 2 chairs and a good sized TV.
- We have been before and we love this hotel. We were upgraded to a lovely room. Spotlessly clean. Comfy bed, warm, nicely decorated, quiet and on ground floor as requested. Breakfast was lovely, selection of everything was good. Staff all pleasant. Lovely stay.
Negative reviews
- We didn't go down for breakfast until about 9.30a.m.and we ordered the 'full English'. The Porridge was lovely but apart from the Egg (which was cooked to your order) the Bacon, Sausage, mushrooms (dry) had all been kept warm!
- Can't really fault it…only grumble was room was a bit chilly on arrival but we turned the radiator up and it was OK.
- The fact that the dining room was closed for dinner and that I don't remember being told. I was travelling alone and had booked the hotel for that reason. It was then necessary as a single person to go in search of food in the evening……not fun and I'm not a pizza eater.
- Mobile phone signal here was pretty much non-existent in the room, whilst there is Wifi. Also, the good main restaurant was closed in the evenings until September I was told, a key draw for me was the restaurant and terrace bar (only open in evenings and not for food). Mariners pub serves food next door which is average.
- Pillows were uncomfortable unfortunately

- Room was cold but they did provide another heater.
- The Bathroom was abit dated, could do with a freshen up. Door had wood flaking at the bottom, shower tray filled with water whilst in use. I did share my concerns with the staff. Breakfast was lovely, only criticism the self serve hot buffet wasn't very hot when we got to it. Overall a pleasant stay.
- The TV kept turning itself off in the middle of a programme, and was in a Settings menu when switched back on. It took several minutes to get the programme back.
- The room was not very clean, bin not emptied and bathroom not cleaned. Make up and hair left all over the sink.
- At 3am on the second night of our stay we were woken up by a loud noise it was the headboard on the bed started to come away from the wall.By 7am it had come away from the wall a lot more. we were worried it might fall on us. So had to get out of bed.we would not stay here again because of this.
