Positive reviews

  • Nice location and very comfortable room. Great breakfast.
  • Loved the location and view. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was great and the grounds were neat with the goats. Really felt homey.
  • Great location for both Kjerag and Pulpit trail. Very good value for money. Breakfast is very good. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful.
  • beautiful location- great for hikes around there! good breakfast (the homemade bread was awesome) & restaurant for dinner Room was perfect and really special! huge bathroom
  • Everything was great. Our room, the staff, the surroundings. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful and we had an evening meal in the restaurant too. Faultless!

Negative reviews

  • There didn't appear to be enough staff. Check in and getting served in the restaurant took a long time.
  • The breakfast was a bit disappointing, some things were not enough (like yoghurt) for all guests. And there was no sweet things, like pastry, pancakes or production from the delicious bakery (like mini cinnamon pastries). The place miss a place to rest and read, like a living room for guests staying a few days, a place to take a coffee or a tea and to relax. When the weather is good, we can sit outside (but it's not so confortable), but when it's raining, there is nothing.
  • next town is quite far away
  • Parking was far from my room and it was inconvenient getting my luggage over gravel.
  • We arrived pretty late and were supposed to pick up the key from the keybox. However when we came, there was no key. Thank God we had skype to call the owner & he came back in 10 minutes and opened a different box which had a key to another room. However he acted like it was us to blame. Also he said that his assistant sent us another msg with another code to the keybox which never happened. He left like in 2 seconds after giving us the key and we had to look for the room and try to find the correct door to open. Not the service one expects.

Positive reviews

  • Excellent location, spotlessly clean, very comfortable, fantastic breakfast, wonderful staff. Airport bus stops outside hotel.
  • Very helpful staff, close to all amenities perfect locatio
  • Breakfast was really nice, and a big plus to the staff for taking care of my partner with her egg allergy.
  • Fantastic and attentive staff. Room was good and well equipped. Breakfast was marvellous.
  • The Clarion Stavanger has excellent facilities, clean, and very comfortable. The beds were perfect for sleeping, though there was some outside traffic noise. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the provided breakfast was well prepared, with an ample selection of healthful items.

Negative reviews

  • Lovely big room but couldn't unpack as there was only a tiny wardrobe with 4 coat hangers (made even smaller as it also contained an ironing board ) – not suitable for two guests staying for several nights! Where were we supposed to put our wet winter jackets? TV offered no foreign language channels – surprising as there are so many international guests.
  • Breakfast was amazing with a fantastic choice . The hot food items were not very warm but the staff where so nice and helpful on
  • There was no on-site parking, we parked at P-St. Olav nearby. One of the pillows was huge which was awkward to sleep with.
  • The doors do not auto-lock when you leave the room, you need to swipe to close the room. No on site parking, but you can park in the underground carpark located directly next door for NOK 350 per 24 hours. Bathroom sink was large but the shower was a little narrow (built over a tub), and the water pressure was weaker than expected.
  • I really dislike shower over bath. Modern hotels should have walk in shower in at least half the rooms.

Positive reviews

  • Just all around fabulous
  • Good location, great food – best we had in Norway – both dinner and breakfast, staff really friendly and helpful
  • Wonderful location, staff and great breakfast. Didn't get to use the sauna because of lack of time but its very nice.
  • The location of the hotel is just perfect! The lake view rooms are just perfect to wake up to in the morning, the food at the hotel is scrumptious!
  • For us the Utstein Kloster Hotell was a special experience. Lots of smiling and accommodating staff, interesting art, beautiful view, and our room was well appointed and peaceful. We had a delicious dinner there. We hope to come back soon!

Negative reviews

  • Nothing
  • Rooms were a bit warm as there is no aircon or fan. Room size is also not the biggest but still good.
  • The room was too hot during the night wven with the window open. Also the toilet was sometimes stuck and kept flushing randomly. A long flush seemed to get rid of it briefly. What wasn’t great is that it wasn’t communicated with us there was a cleaning fee for bringing our dog. So this came as a surprise at check out. Also when going to the restaurant we were told our dog wasn’t allowed anywhere inside the hotel except our room. This was strange as when we checked in this was no problem at all and we sat in the hotel with him waiting for check in with several staff members being happy to see him. It felt quite rude because of this and we decided to eat somewhere else.
  • We booked a twin room, and the room was tiny with an uncomfortable small bathroom, more suitable as a single room, and a disappointement compared to the expectations from photos when booking. We did not get Sea View as requested but facing the fields behind, where the farmers had spread fresh cow manure on (!). The smell! We had a feeling that booking through Booking.com is a disadvantage compared to direct bookings.
  • The restaurant menu lacks choices, only one dish of beef tenderloin and one cod fish dish both with a bed of veggies. One beef burger and chips, salad, fish soup and dessert and expensive for the quantity. The service table isn't great and they make different mistakes, of course we didn't go to the Shangri-la hotel but a simple basic table service was a good thing to do.

Positive reviews

  • Breakfast was delicious and I deeply appreciated the accommodation for myself as a vegetarian.
  • Magnificent location. Friendly, efficient, helpful staff and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Room was clean and bed very comfortable with decor that is functional and minimalist. Loved the amazing window seat!!! Food was exceptional in flavour and presentation – fresh and especially appreciated the extra touches from the on ground garden. Dining room with the panoramic view of the mountains and water is picture- perfect and the wood burning fire adds to the ambience
  • Unique location and concept
  • Design design design location view so so special
  • This hotel is in a quiet village and sits in its own grounds above village. There’s an interesting story behind the hotel involving hydro power. Check in was easy once a receptionist was found. My room was lovely and comfortable with great views over the local fjord. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel has a brilliant restaurant with excellent food, definitely worth trying. It’s not a huge hotel and very minimalist. Also a nice quiet village to go for a walk.

Negative reviews

  • Needs maintenance and a bit of interior make over
  • Rooms are small and the bathroom could be better. For breakfast there is no buffet and no choice. Everyone gets a plate with a little bit of egg, cheese, ham and fruit. That’s is☹️
  • Bathroom was too small without room to put your toiletried. There was no cupboard for clothes nor any other place to put clothes apart from a hanging rack which was too high to reach (even for tall people). Breakfast is served at your table on a plate. Everyone gets the same. It is very nicely presented but gives you no choice to pick what you like. E.g. I prefer apple juice and everyone gets orange. I prefer a hartier breakfast (no fruit, sweet stuff) whereas my husband likes pastries, waffles, etc. You get asked about allergies but not about preferences.
  • Unfortunately the sauna was out of order.
  • Small basic rooms

Positive reviews

  • Location was good, easy walking around downtown.
  • Fantastic breakfast – home made strawberry, as well as raspberry jam! And the freshly baked bread: amazing! And the helpful receptionist who we rented bikes from, and who explained where to get to "Gamle Jærbanen". Very affordable parking too.
  • The breakfast and restaurant were quite good. The location is very central, and the hotel plays an important part in Egersund's history.
  • Good site just a short walk away from the centre but in a quiet side street. Long-established hotel amongst many old buildings, but facilities not dated at all. Communal areas well-appointed comfortable and welcoming. Staff very friendly and helpful. Single bedroom had a comfortable bed and excellent shower room.
  • It was a super clean hotel, staff we really friendly and the breakfast buffet was amazing. Filled us up all day!! Great location for the centre of egersund.

Negative reviews

  • When the hotel room cost 2000nok per night, I don’t think one should be also charged for early check-in OR for breakfast as we were.
  • Missing aircon
  • The hotel appeared to be fully booked during my visit, and this clearly put pressure on service — especially at breakfast, where the buffet wasn't replenished quickly enough and many trays remained empty for long stretches. Noise was another issue. A loud band playing nearby went on until late, and even within the hotel, the general atmosphere — at breakfast and in the bar — felt surprisingly loud for what I had hoped would be a quiet weekend away. In short: a well-presented hotel with good staff, but perhaps not the best choice during busier times if you’re seeking a peaceful or relaxing experience.
  • First room had a non-functional fridge (needed to refrigerate medication). Moved to a different much smaller room. Room was ok, but for the price not great.
  • The food in restaurant was not vegan/ vegetarian friendly at all So if you don’t want Norwegian Christmas juletallerken or meat so please find something else . The food was also overpriced

Positive reviews

  • Location, cleanliness and friendly staff
  • Bed was really comfy and smart tv in the room. Excellent shower
  • The room was clean, staff on reception were friendly and helpful. We ate dinner in the hotel – the food was good as was the service. There was a good breakfast buffet which you eat in the historic part of the building – so a good atmosphere. The hotel is conveniently situated – right in the centre of Sandnes and right by the train station. Overall we enjoyed our stay.
  • Near the city center and the room is ok.
  • Superb suite. Nice location

Negative reviews

  • Lift has broken down down at the time of my visit, so it wasn't pleasant to move one's bags up the stairs
  • Room was dark
  • The bed was a bit too soft for our liking but that is personal preference.
  • There are two bars nearby and you can feel the throbbing rhythm of the music during the night. No parking space if you drive a car.
  • the bubbles didnt work at the bathtub. Didnt know it was a pub under so it was much noise and the night.

  • Location, View, Parking included Dinner and breakfast
  • Fantastic base from which to do the Pulpic Rock hike.
  • Beautiful surroundings, nice staff, comfortable hotel. What else does one need for a hike to the Preikestolen. Dinner was really nice. The deer signature dish is a treat, and the raspberry desert delicious.
  • Absolutely wonderful place! The view from the window is just perfect. There’s free coffee and tea available in the common areas, and both the shower and toilet are spotless. Bed linen is included, and there’s also free parking, which is very convenient. Overall, the price-to-quality ratio is excellent.
  • The staff was very friendly, the food really good, and the hotel nice and cozy.

Negative reviews

  • Family is rather small, suitable for 2 adults and 2 children 9 – 14 years. Split level with access to the upper floor by a ladder through a small hole, or from the outside a floor upstairs. Looks nice on paper but doesn't work for 3 adults.
  • Small rooms, but as expected in mountain accommodations. During my stay, only one shower was available for all rooms in the building, but there were multiple showers in the building next to it. There is no place to prepare meals, but there is provided tea and coffee.
  • Parking: While free for the hotel guests, it's a public lot with no reserved spaces close. Be prepared to park up to 300m away if you're unlucky. Room Quality: The rooms are basic and were pretty drafty from the windows, which couldn't be adjusted. Restaurant Pricing: The dinner menu features the exact same dishes as the lunch menu but at a 30-40% price increase after 5 PM. Value for Money: The hotel is relatively expensive for the quality provided, seemingly taking advantage of its position as the only option nearby.
  • The hotel was made from wood, and very noisy. You could hear and feel doors opening and closing late in the evening, during the night and early wake ups. The upper part of the family room was very hot (even though outside was about 10 degrees) and not ventilated. It helped a bit to keep the door to the hall open at night for some fresh air.
  • Overpriced because of the location. Expensive brakfast, no shop near. We wanted to go on Preikestolen early in the morning, but had couldn’t buy anything to eat until 9 am

Positive reviews

  • Amazing breakfast
  • Perfect location as I had to be at airport at 0400! Very clean and comfy. Was able to check in hours early, really appreciated that.
  • Unfortunately, we didn't experience the breakfast as landed late and had to leave far too early but room was immaculate, beds comfy and clean, staff thoughtful and cheerful. However the best was the location. It's worth the extra money paid for it as it is unbelievably close to the airport. Great for families and those with mobility issues or even those who have an early flight, to be so close enables that little longer in bed. Worth it!
  • Breakfast was stellar, soo many delicious options! And the location can't be beat, especially if you have an early flight out! Friendly staff too, they were really kind to our kids!
  • Clean, spacious, comfortable room. Excellent breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent location for late arrival…adjacent to terminal building

Negative reviews

  • not the fault of the hotel but the location is not near anything interesting so this suits short stays where boredom will not be an issue.
  • they were remodeling and was a mess in the lobby.
  • Room was quite small for family of 4.
  • The room we stayed in had a radiator that made an insanely loud noise for hours during the night (at least 5) such that we couldn’t get a wink of sleep prior to our flight to Australia. The sound was probably over 40db right next to the bed. Reception was very apologetic and gave a small discount but I have sent in a formal complaint and request for a full refund to the hotel without any response. Disappointed, wouldn’t stay here again in connection with long haul travel
