- Hotel was spotlessly clean. Staff were friendly. Bed was comfy. Shower was powerful and warm. 10-15 min drive from the NEC where we were seeing a show. We also had Sunday lunch and breakfast at the barn restaurant attached and the food and service was also superb.
- Great place to stay staff excellent. breakfast spot on.
- Receptionist very welcoming and helpful, the rooms were spacious clean and very new 😀
- Nice clean room, brand new basically. Great TV. Probably the best shower 🚿 Ive had in a hotel in recent times. Location was only 10/15 mins from NEC area…. Food including breakfast was good. Good WiFi. Pleasant welcome and service. Will definitely return.
- Everything was perfect. Staff was professional. Hotel was clean. Peaceful stay. Location very good. Enough Parking. Room was big enough.
Negative reviews
- All very minor points but worth mentioning. Separate food facilities means getting cold n wet on the not so nice days…. A bit odd that you couldn't get terrestrial TV/Freeview on the TV. I made do with some streaming apps. Even with Aircon, felt a bit cooler than I'd have liked. No idea how the towel radiator switched on? A small fridge and a few extra touches would really make this the destination that it wants to be!
- No fresh milk for T&C
- We asked for more information about ev charging onsite before our stay, we did not receive an email response. We did get a phone call while on route but this was too late to re organise our journey to charge somewhere else on the way. This meant we had to go out to charge in evening rather than rest.
- Water isn't hot enough
- Noisy corridor led to a disturbed nights stay as it acted as a tunnel from end to end so sound just carried through. Room and bedding was damp due to fresh plasterwork I'm assuming… Concrete floorcovering really didn't help the situation. The TV was a nightmare to operate as could not find regular channels being some sort of internet only… Would never book again…

- Welcoming, the room was a good size with very good drinks facililities. The bed was comfortable and I had a good nights sleep. Breakfast was a wide ranging tasty choice.
- Spa included, electric car chargers (although it didn't work), clean room, actual bath and shower, breakfast good.
- Location, staff and rooms are very good
- The hotel was lovely, staff very friendly and helpful and the spa was just amazing!
- Close to NEC (less than 5 min walk), good parking, nice rooms and plenty of food options.
Negative reviews
- The shower water went outside the bath area and in the morning fluctuated between hot and cold. The safe was loose as it looked like it had tried to be fixed with too short a screw.
- Couldn't get through on the phone to clarify details. Checked in and ended up with wrong room category with my daughter in a room with free minibar instead of us! Didn't like the piano sealed up with sellotape in the foyer. As you're next to a music venue, it would be better to leave it open and encourage people to play.
- The reception queue was too long, there should have been more than one member of staff. The hotel is overpriced in comparison to others nearby and the casino had no atmosphere
- Could have got robes for the spa, also were a bit pushy about the VIP parking which when asked about over the phone said was no difference
- Needed more smoking facilities on different floors for us vapers

- The staff, the room, the facilities were all exceptional.
- Clean, kind and friendly staff. Nice restaurant and bar Lovely spa experience
- Everything was absolutely spot on!
Negative reviews
- The bath plug wouldn't come out which did stress me a bit. I didn't like having to leave the water in there. This is the only thing I have to say as everything else was perfect.
- The lack of a pavement to leave the premises on foot, but that was the only thing and I wouldn't necessarily say it was bad.
- That we couldn't use just the pool, you had to pay to use all of the facilities. We only wanted the pool.
- Expensive
- When in my room in the morning the cleaning staff were very loud shouting to each other down the corridor.

- Fantastic location and facilities with lovely staff
- Lovely atmosphere and lively and warm
- Breakfast was excellent and very prompt. The room is clean although do not stay too near to reception as there is a little noise from the reception & air conditioning but it went off around 11pm. I always stay at this hotel when visiting the NEC.
- Very comfortable place to stay – relaxed and friendly – top quality coffeee and breakfast
- clean and comfortable room, great shower , bathroom fully equiped and clean. nice staff lovely breakfast.
Negative reviews
- Its clean and tidy & dinner is very good.
- I booked a room with a bath for a reason and was given a downstairs room which was disabled access so had a very low sink and no bath. I was given a tiny heater but the room was freezing, huge draft coming from the patio doors. I ordered breakfast to my room which I was very disappointed with if I’m being honest.was such a shame as the hotel is lovely a dinner was amazing but was let down by a lot.
- don't think anything could of been better , it suited our needs.
- Some areas require some loving care in communal parts and rooms ie carpets etc
- Patio door in room didn’t lock properly. Men’s toilets near bar poor condition. For the price would expect breakfast to be included and bathrobes in room. Slight unpleasant smell in room. Paid for breakfast on arrival but in the morning told it was still down as room only. No power by beds.

- Everything about it….wish I had time to try the spa …
- Clean and well presented hotel. Easy transport via tram from the centre of town and also good option of secure onsite parking.
- Very good hotel covers all your needs without being expensive
- Room was clean and spacious, really comfortable bed.
Negative reviews
- After upgrading to a deluxe room no fridge in room ,this is shocking and not acceptable ,especially if youre going to charge £26 to park. Food let down by staff being overwhelmed. A business hotel that will end up loosing business if it doesant start treating guests as guests and not poundsigns
- I was going to say the car park been a bit far away…but that's only because I had an event I was apart of so loading in for me was a little difficult
- Staff at check in and check out didn't seem very friendly. Some noise audible from neighbouring rooms. One lamp in the room not working and only one of the twin beds had a bedside plug.
- Poor mattress quality !! It was so old & lost its support
- The car parking & use of many lifts is tire some Makes it hard to easily go in and out of the hotel Seemed as if all the girls on the front desk had an attitude Very condescending Helpful but also could tell they had 0 customer service skills and didn’t like when you asked them a question

- Good hotel, spacious rooms and comfortable.
- It was spacious and clean
- I liked the breakfast, the bed was comfortable, beautiful scenic view from the room and the spa was amazing. The staff were polite & professional.
- The hotel was perfectly place for me to walk to 'parkrun' on Saturday morning. The size of the room was enormous with twin aspect views. It was lovely to have a bath too, to soak away the day's aches and pains.
- Great location for my business trip
Negative reviews
- Would have liked some healthier options for b fast though it was not bad!
- The bathroom light kept going off then the wall lights in the room also WiFi kept going off and there was a buzzing from the light switch & also a bit noisy from people walking through to there rooms ! i suffer with severe anxiety so did not have a good decent night's sleep at all
- Sadly, we did find the pillows uncomfortable & hard & the duvet quite thin and small…not the best night's sleep. Whilst there was a twin phone charger & lamp on one side of the bed, there was no such facility on the other side. It was also difficult to use the hair dryer in front of the mirror as the power sockets were awkwardly placed.
- The TV channels didn’t work
- Window didn’t open ! Bathroom a little dated

- The receptionist I spoke to on the phone was exceptionally friendly, polite and very competent.
- Everyone was friendly and helpful
- Evening meal we're very good.
- Great location, clean rooms, comfy beds and the food was amazing.
- Swimming facilities
Negative reviews
- Dusty surfaces, dirty mugs at breakfast. A water fountain in the building would be good
- Temp control in the room was too wide, oscillated between too hot and too cool. Duvets are ridiculously heavy. Both of us sweated through the night with disturbed sleep. Just because some guests moan they are cold doesn't mean you have to subject everyone to a 15-18 TOG duvet without any options.
- Upon check-in I asked about accessibility to the swimming pool but it would have been handy to know I needed to collect a card to access it at the time of asking as we got down there and I had to come back up and stand in a long queue of check-ins at reception which could have been avoided if I’d have been made aware when checking in. £5 charge for room service – it was easier to come up the short hallway and collect myself £12 parking charge
- I couldnt find any faults.
- I went for a swim in the pool which was full of children- which is fine. None had swimming hats. There was a lack of appropriate supervision. There was not a separate lane for people who wanted to swim although this have could have been easily accommodated. Personal items had not been placed in lockers, rather in the private changing areas even when not occupied meaning there was no private space to change. It was not obvious from website that parking would be an additional (and expensive) cost. Room was good. Restaurant was good. Staff on Reception were also very pleasant.

FAQ
voco St. Johns Solihull by IHG advertises multiple on-site charging stations with both rapid and standard points, so it’s the best choice when you need faster options. The hotel allows guests to charge while using facilities and parking for registered guests applies. Contact the hotel to confirm charger types and current availability before you arrive.
Coombe Abbey Hotel lists eight on-site EV devices and eight connectors operated via the VendElectric network, giving it the largest number of chargers among these properties. Access requires the VendElectric app and charges are billed per kWh. Check the hotel’s guest information or the VendElectric app for live availability.
Genting Hotel & Spa at Resorts World Birmingham is ideal for NEC visitors because it sits on the NEC campus and has four chargers in the hotel car park plus additional points in the Resorts World multi-storey. The hotel specifies 7 kW and 22 kW units with pay-per-kWh charging at around 29p per kWh. Pre-booking parking is recommended for guests who need a space.
Fairlawns, Hotel and Spa provides six Type 2, 7 kW charging points in a designated car park, all part of a public charging network with access and payment managed through that network. The Barn Hotel reports on-site EV charging in public listings, but its website does not detail charger models or numbers, so you should contact the hotel directly to confirm availability. Guest feedback mentions communication gaps about charging, so a phone call or email before travel is advisable. The property’s listings also describe private on-site parking as complimentary.
